Sons of the Pioneers - Blue Prairie If you had to associate someone with the birth of Western music as we know it today, those people would have to be the Sons of the Pioneers. When the Treasury Department sought out Western artists for their Guest Star radio shows in the 1950s, the Sons of the Pioneers answered the call. This album is a collection transcribed from the original radio shows. There is actually a connection to Wickenburg with the Treasury Guest Star Series. The shows were hosted by Lou Crosby in the early years, but later shows were hosted by a promising young star named Merv Griffin. Merv ran a ranch and rehabilitation center for children for many years along Arizona Highway 89 just outside of Wickenburg. Don't miss out on these rare, beautifully remastered recordings.
