Fun Facts About the Montana Flag
The current Montana flag was adopted in 1905, although the text "Montana" was only officially added in 1981.It was revised yet again in 1985, when the block letters were specified.
The river scene in the seal is, of course, the Great Falls of the Missouri.
The text "Oro Y Plata" means Gold and Silver in Spanish. It's a nod to the fact that the flag was first used by a Montana regiment in the Spanish-American War.
