Gene Autry Set
Includes Tooled Leather Belt and Holster with Toy Gun
Without Gene Autry, the entire notion of the Singing Cowboy would have been drastically different. Gene really did work as a Cowboy, although he owes his career in entertainment to his work as a telegraph operator. It was none other than Will Rogers who urged the young operator who liked to sing to pass the time in the office to seek out a career in the business.
After his first break on radio in Oklahoma in 1928, Gene quickly grew in popularity and expanded the little program into what eventually became the immensely popular Melody Ranch Program. The film industry happened upon his talent in 1934. Roy Rogers ultimately surpassed Gene in the film arena, but each held their own when it came to TV Western programming for children. Both offered superb, wholesome programming that continues to delight people the world over.
