Fun Facts About the Texas Flag
The current Lone Star Flag was adopted January 24, 1839 by the legislature of the Republic of Texas (The Lone Star Republic). The design was introduced December 29th of the prior year.
The Lone Star Flag replaced The Burnet Flag, which was a single yellow star on an azure background. It was a nod to the Bonnie Blue flag.
The Texas Pledge of Allegiance (added to the regular Pledge): Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.
When Texas was annexed at the end of 1845, the national flag became the flag of the Great State of Texas.
