Buffaloed By Fairlee Winfield Click on the thumbnails to see a larger image of the front and back covers. Inspired by the stories her Grandmother told her about working in Charlie Russell's home in Montana, Ms. Winfield set about writing a wonderful story that deals with the authenticity of the Lewis and Clark mural that graces the Montana State House, supposedly painted my Mr. Russell. The novel tells of life in turn of the 20th century Montana as seen through the eyes of Ovidia Odegard, a young Norwegian immigrant eager to stake her claim in the American West and finds her place in Mr. Russell's home. The vividness of this novel gives the reader a snapshot of the American West that they will not soon forget. There just aren't that many of these sort of literary works being written these days, and that's a shame. You'll enjoy and appreciate the details that went into this book, which is an excellent candidate for being made into a movie. Paperback, 292 pages. Eric Hoffer Award Finalist!
